Martin Box Office First Day: Dhruv Sarja gets the second biggest opening of his career
Kannada film Martin registered the best opening on Friday among all the new releases including Jigra and Vicky Vidya’s Woh Wala video. Starring Dhruv Sarja as Sandalwood’s ‘Action Rajkumar’, the film is now expected to fetch big profits from the Dussehra holidays.

Kannada film Martin collected Rs 6.7 crore in India on Friday. The Dhruv Sarja-starrer became the biggest Sandalwood opener of the year, and recorded the second highest opening for the actor after Pogaru, which earned Rs 8.71 crore on the first day.
Despite the release of Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyaan, the action drama remained the first choice for audiences in Karnataka. The AP Arjun-directed is now all set to take off on a massive second day with a higher than expected footfall due to the Dussehra holidays. Martin faced an initial challenge with shows canceled at several venues in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
These morning shows were reportedly canceled due to issues with distributors. However, the afternoon show gained momentum and recorded a good start. Had morning shows not been canceled at many major venues, Martin would have emerged as the biggest box office opener for Dhruv Sarja.
Known as the ‘Action Prince’ of the Karnataka film industry, Dhruv is famous for delivering large-scale action entertainers. Martin is another such film from his resume, and considering the kind of buzz it has already created in the market, it is going to set new standards for the actor at the box office.
Interestingly, Martin remained the highest-grossing opener on Friday, October 11. It also overtook two new Bollywood releases – Jigra and Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video – in terms of opening day numbers on Friday. Both films grossed Rs 4–5 crore in India, with Martin surpassing these figures – a remarkable feat.
