Mark Review: After Max, another super cop Christ-Mass entertainer from Sudeep
Mark Movie Review: Kiccha, the second consecutive collaboration between Sudeep and director Vijay Karthikeya after Max, is equally entertaining if not more, deals with a more complex matter, and carries the same flaws too.

“crazy the devilbut with one Thale (Head)”, was the groovy track that had Kiccha Sudeep fans excited for its release Mark this Christmas. Little did we know that this movie would actually feature a “Psycho” the devilAs Sudeep makes his way through the goons MarkFor those who thought Mark there was just going to be another one maximum Different clothes have some similarities. But if seen overall Mark Is different. How? Let’s find out!
Like Max, Ajay Markandaya alias Mark (Sudeep) is a suspended policeman. But unlike Max, Mark is not returning to duty after his suspension. As another fellow policeman says, he is always on duty, regardless of his working conditions – bureaucratically and physically. He finds himself battling three cases: missing children, political turmoil over the CM’s seat, and a gangster drug mafia out for revenge.
Adikeshav (Shine Tom Chacko) is the Chief Minister’s son, who is trying to grab the seat for himself while his mother is on her deathbed. The plot is captured by a doctor on his phone, threatening the legitimacy of Adikeshav taking charge and pitting him against Mark after an opposition leader informs him of this.
Bhadra (Naveen Chandra) is a dangerous drug lord – a typical villain with anger problems – who is searching for his brother, intending to kill him for eloping with his lover. Additionally, there is also a series of missing children cases, as a mysterious man has been randomly kidnapping children, even stabbing Mark’s mother during one such kidnapping.
How are these three cases connected? Who is pulling the strings behind the scenes? Can Mark rescue the kidnapped children in time while handling other cases? Or will Adikeshav, Stephen, Bhadra and others gain the upper hand over Mark and his team? As the investigation progresses, the answers to these questions emerge – filled with abundant swag, charisma and massive levity – forming the plot of the film.
as mentioned earlier, Mark is different from maximumBut with the same filmmaker, Vijay Karthikeya, this difference comes with many similarities. As the story unfolds, the film follows a familiar pattern, marked by serious filmmaking, largely shallow supporting characters, and essentially the same template. what sets Mark However, beyond that, there are two key elements: Sudeep’s performance as Mark and the more complex, multi-layered case that sustains and heightens interest.
The director’s strength lies in projecting his superstar’s aura and screen presence through inventive, expansive sets, which have become his clear USP. The way he structures his storytelling also suggests an awareness of appealing to a broad spectrum of audiences, even if on a smaller scale. That said, these are largely the same comments that came up when reviewing maximumThe deep engagement with a really complex case, as well as the ability to write a more developed, impactful character, is an area the director would benefit from exploring further,
Another group ride from Kiccha Sudeep for Christmas. Eega The actor once again single-handedly carries the film through his performance, screen presence and swag like a beast MarkThe performance is completely different from what Max demanded as a character, From his looks and mannerisms to the way he approaches a case, Mark is fundamentally different, and much of the credit for this goes to the actor,
This is especially important because the narrative functions of both characters are quite similar, and they could have easily blended into each other. Instead, it is Sudeep’s efforts that ensure that Mark emerges as a new character for the audience. However, the rest of the supporting cast is extremely underwritten and underutilized.
Yogi Babu brings some laughs, and Nishvika Naidu’s beauty in the special song adds a visual lift. Furthermore, despite featuring actors like Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Vikrant, Guru Somasundaram and Shine Tom Chacko, the film leaves little scope for memorable supporting performances.
Ajaneesh Loknath’s music is another strong point of the film. Apart from the three already well-received songs, the background score during the climax moments of the film is extremely hair-raising, although there are parts where the music feels a bit stale. Cinematography stands out as another major technical strength, with each frame capturing the gravity of the situation and maintaining the energy of the film. The editing is largely crisp, even if it does feel abrupt at times.
overall, Mark Sudeep has another entertainer for Christmas. It offers mass appeal through its action and class through its investigative thriller elements. Although the film comes with its few flaws, Sudeep’s swag is more than enough to compensate for them for anyone looking for fun in theatres. A recommended theatrical experience, as his screen presence is best enjoyed on the big screen.
