Mardaani 3 earned Rs. It collected around Rs 7 crore on the third day, and with this, it made Rs. Approx Rs 16.75 crore nett. The Rani Mukherjee starrer enjoyed a good growth on Saturday but witnessed a good growth of around 20 per cent on Sunday. This kind of leap is not usually associated with films from this region, although it perhaps has a slightly wider appeal than regular small/medium scale urban multiplex films.
Sunday has put the film in a better position than Saturday. Now it needs to maintain a good hold on Monday and remain at that level on weekdays. The weekend is lower than Mardaani 2 (Rs 18 crore nett) and chances are the first week will be equally good, but it has the advantage of having less competition in the second and third weeks. Whereas Mardaani 2 had to face Dabangg 3 and Good News in the second and third week. This will give Mardaani 3 a chance to catch up and possibly surpass the lifetime numbers of its predecessor, but first catching up on Monday is important.
One thing that has been going wrong with films recently is that the costs have increased a lot. The film Keema Mardaani 3, released a few years ago, has performed well in this regard as the film has been made in a controlled budget. Although it costs twice as much as Mardaani 2, it is still quite manageable if the film gets the right response, as the non-theatrical collections are also quite good. The fact that the film got a respectable opening on Friday made things even better.
