Mankatha directed by Venkat Prabhu recorded a big decline in its second weekend. After completing its opening week on a promising note, the re-released film collected only Rs. 75 lakh in the tally, its total 10 days earning is Rs. Earning Rs 14.90 crore at the Indian box office.
The Ajith Kumar-led action thriller was on its way to surpass the lifetime high of Thalapathy Vijay’s Gilli by the end of its first week, however, the film has now surrendered. This means, Gilli will retain its re-release record of being the highest grossing film in Tamil Nadu. For the record, Gilli paid Rs. Earned more than. 20.50 crore in its home state, while its all India final collection was around Rs. 22.75 crores.
Nevertheless, Mankatha has emerged as a huge success in its second innings, which speaks volumes of the film’s popularity among the audience and the love for one of the biggest stars of Tamil cinema.
