Malayalam survival drama Manjummel Boys is all set to make its mark on the international stage. The film has been selected to compete at the inaugural KinoBravo Film Festival in Russia, marking it as the only Indian representative in the prestigious competition section.

Directed by Chidambaram, Manjummel Boys will compete at the festival along with How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies (Thailand), Fossil (Iran) and Hans Kroes The Rubicon (South Africa).

The film was released theatrically earlier this year, attracting audiences not only in the Malayalam film industry but across India. The packed houses in Kerala and beyond testify to its immense popularity. Ultimately, Manjummel Boys achieved the remarkable feat of becoming one of the highest-grossing Malayalam films of all time.

Manjummel Boys is a heart-warming true story inspired by a group of friends who bravely faced the odds to save one of their friends after he fell into the Gunna Caves of Kodaikanal. The film will be screened in Sochi, Russia on October 1.

Apart from Manjummel Boys, SS Rajamouli’s acclaimed film RRR and Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine as Light will be screened in the Out of Competition: Festival Hits and Out of Competition: Blockbuster Hits categories respectively. Notably, acclaimed writer and director Vishal Bhardwaj serves as a jury member for the festival.

Before the start of the festival, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his enthusiasm for it and said, “Dear friends! I welcome you to the opening of the First International Festival of Spectator Cinema “Kinobravo”. This is a new, interesting project in Sochi and Big, influential event in the cultural life of our entire vast country, its participants and jury members include world-famous directors, actors, producers, organizers of film productions from many countries.

This prestigious festival will run till 4 October 2024.
