For those who don’t know, Eid-ul-Adha, also known as Bakrid, Bakra Eid, Eid al-Adha, Eid Qurban or Qurban Bayrami, is the second major Islamic festival celebrated by Muslims around the world. Unlike Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, Bakrid commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s (Abraham) willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God.
Talking about films, Mammootty was recently seen in the action-thriller ‘Turbo’. The film also featured Raj B Shetty, Sunil, Anjana Jayaprakash, Kabir Duhan Singh, Siddiqui, Shabarish Verma and Dileesh Pothan in important roles.
The actor, who has won three National Awards besides several other honours, has appeared in over 400 films since beginning his acting career in an uncredited role in 1971. He was first credited as an actor in the 1973 film ‘Kaalachakram’.
