Malayalam actor Mammootty has appealed for peace amid increasing tension between Iran and Israel.

Malayalam superstar Mammootty addressed the Iran-Israel conflict at a public event on Sunday, March 1 and expressed hope for peace as tensions between Iran and Israel continue to rise. Speaking at an event to mark 50 years of filmmaker TV Chandran’s career, Mammootty compared controversies in cinema with the much bigger consequences of real-world wars.

His comments came amid worsening situations in West Asia following recent military actions by the United States and Israel against Iran and subsequent missile responses by Tehran.

Reflecting on conflict and rivalry, Mammootty said that disagreements are common in cinema, but loss and suffering in war is far more significant. He said, “There have been discussions, controversies and even battles in cinema. Sometimes one side wins, sometimes both sides lose. Even now, there is a war going on outside. We don’t know who will win. I hope humanity will win.”

The comments came as hostilities intensified in West Asia, with the United States and Israel launching attacks on Iran, and Tehran retaliating with missile attacks on Israel and US targets in the Middle East.

Mammootty’s call for peace highlights the human cost of the conflict and appeals for solidarity.

The event was dedicated to the five-decade career of filmmaker TV Chandran. Mammootty urged the audience to consider the effects of war and the need for peace, and reminded listeners of the influence of public figures on shaping the discourse.

On the work front, he will next be seen in Mahesh Narayanan’s multi-starrer PatriotStarring Mohanlal and Fahadh Faasil, is set to release in April. Mammootty is also working with director Adoor Gopalakrishnan hikingReuniting with the filmmaker after more than three decades.
