Major Ravi’s new film Pahalgam faces backlash from Mohanlal fans before its release
Even before the official announcement of Major Ravi’s upcoming film ‘Pahalgam’, inspired by real-life military operations, there is a strong reaction on social media. Surprisingly, most of the criticism comes from Mohanlal’s own fan base, raising questions over the filmmaker’s recent track record.

Director Major Ravi, who is known for his army-based films, is all set to make his next project ‘Pahalgam’, which is inspired by the real-life missions Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev. The film begins with a puja ceremony at the Mookambika temple and aims to salute the bravery of Indian soldiers. However, even before its official announcement, ‘Pahalgam’ has faced severe criticism on social media – surprisingly, from Mohanlal’s own fan base.
Many X users express their disapproval. A fan wrote, “Even before the official announcement, a huge reaction has started on social media for the upcoming Laleton – Major Ravi film. This time the criticism is not coming from outside – it is from within the #L fan base itself. Not surprising at all. @mohanlal.”

Another user questioned the skepticism surrounding the project, saying, “I don’t understand. Operation Sindoor was one of the proudest moments in Indian history. I understand that no one trusts his filmmaking, but I don’t think he would dare to take such a subject and present something half-baked.”

Some expressed downright disappointment, with one post saying, “I wish it didn’t get made. That’s all. I would love more A10 fans.” Another user said, “If Major Ravi can give us ‘Picket 43’, he is welcome, otherwise not – it’s time to stop.”

Concerns also came to light regarding Mohanlal’s film selection. One user said, “We can’t spend money, buy tickets to watch nonsense. L is in the best form of his life – this will lead to another bad phase. Don’t try to please right wing @Mohanlal. You will lose a huge left fan and neutral educated base, see what happened to Akshay Kumar.”
Adding to the criticism, another fan commented, “How much more do they want us to put up with this crap.”

Despite the criticism, the Pahalgam team is focused on bringing the story to life. Produced by Major Ravi and Anup Mohan under Presidential Movies International Pvt. Ltd., the film has seen a pan-India release in multiple languages. Astrologer Jitesh Panikkar and filmmaker Jayaram Kailash were among those who attended the launch event and extended their good wishes.
Major Ravi, who has previously directed acclaimed patriotic films like ‘Kirthchakra’ and ‘Picket 43’, is once again returning to his signature style. Promising a mix of emotion and action, ‘Pahalgam’ stars S. There will be cinematography by Thirunavukkarasu and music by Harshavardhan Rameswara.
