Known for his fiery speeches in Parliament, politician Mahua Motra recently revealed a soft, more individual side during a chat with India. In an unexpected but delightful confession, Motra shared his deep praise for actor Pankaj Tripathi, called him a “crush” and praised his on-screen talent.

A self-conscious Bollywood buff, Moitra spoke emotionally about her love for Hindi cinema during a podcast with today’s Preity Chaudhary.

“I saw the ‘Munnabhai’ series, and I will see it again. I loved ‘Vicky Donor’. And I love Pankaj Tripathi. I saw the entire ‘Mirzapur’ series,” she said, she was specially ready to portray dark, serious characters. “I think he is the best actor. I loved him in ‘Mirzapur’, and even in ‘Gangs of Wasipur’. I like the mean, bad roles she plays.”

Taking his praise a step forward, Motra revealed that he once wrote a heartfelt note to Tripathi, hoping to meet on coffee. “I said I am a big fan, and I would like to meet you. But obviously he lives in Alibag and does not meet anyone for coffee,” he shared with a laugh.

His fangirling did not stop there. He even listed fellow MP and actor Ravi Kishan to help the actor in the facility of a phone call. But when the moment finally came, Motra admitted that she became shy to say too much. “I was very excited, but I barely talked,” she confessed.

“This happened when an anchor was being interviewed, he said,” I am going to interview Pankaj Tripathi. So I asked him to give a note, “he said.”

Tripathi, widely considered one of the most versatile artists in India, has earned significant praise for his roles in films like ‘Newton’, ‘Mimi’ and ‘Stri’. But this was his prestigious turn as a carpet brother in ‘Mirzapur’ which made him a domestic name. He is set to resume the role in ‘Mirzapur: The Film’ in 2026, as well as a show in Stree 3 and an untital drama in Bihar.

His last screen appearance was in ‘Metro … in Dino’.
