Netflix’s Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale has been creating waves since its release on November 18. Tollywood star Mahesh Babu expressed his appreciation for the documentary by sharing a poster featuring Nayanthara, her husband Vignesh Shivan and their twin sons on his Instagram page. Along with the image, he added three red heart emojis, a gesture that sparked discussions online. Although the post was brief, it quickly went viral on social media.

Here’s a look at his story:

Interestingly, while Mahesh Babu and Nayanthara have never shared screen space, they were seen exchanging pleasantries together at Ambani’s wedding earlier this year. During Ananth Ambani’s grand wedding, Nayanthara’s husband, Vignesh Shivan, shared a picture of Mahesh Babu, Suriya, Nayanthara, Akhil Akkineni and Jyotika all radiating happiness, leaving fans in a tizzy about this unexpected gathering of stars. The enthusiasm increased further.

Apart from Mahesh Babu’s post, several other personalities from the industry have shown their support for the documentary.

Actress Janhvi Kapoor praised Nayanthara by calling her a “strong woman”. Sharing Netflix’s post about the documentary, Janhvi wrote, “Nothing more inspiring than watching a strong woman become a strong woman,” and added a red heart emoji. Nayanthara responded with an emotional message thanking Janhvi for her kind words: “Dear Janhvi, the messages you sent me after watching the documentary made me extremely emotional. I’m so glad you took the time to express what you felt. Really means a lot. Lots of love to you, baby.” Other artists including Gajraj Rao also reacted to the documentary.

The documentary explores Nayanthara’s growth from a small-town girl in Kerala to becoming a “lady superstar”. It also highlights her struggles in a male-dominated industry, her professional milestones and her relationship with Vignesh Shivan, which culminated in their marriage and parenting journey.

However, this film was not untouched by controversies. Nayanthara had recently accused actor Dhanush of refusing to use a few seconds of footage from her film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, which was directed by Vignesh Shivan. The allegation has added to the intrigue surrounding the release, although Dhanush is yet to respond publicly.

Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale is streaming on Netflix.
