Many Kollywood movies are lined up for January 2025. On 10 January, Madrasakaaran reached theaters along with its rival release, Vanangan. Directed by Vali Mohan Das, the action film stars Tamil debutant Shane Nigam in the lead role and also stars Kalaiyarasan, Niharika Konidela and Aishwarya Dutta in important roles. Madrasakaaran has maintained a good hold on the Tamil Nadu box office.
Madrasakaran earns Rs 50 lakh in Tamil Nadu on second day; Total reached Rs 80 lakh
Madrasakaaran, which released over the Pongal weekend, collected Rs 30 lakh in Tamil Nadu on Friday. On the second day, the collection of the Shane Nigam-starrer increased to Rs 50 lakh, taking its total collection to Rs 80 lakh in two days.

Madraskaran vs Vanangan
Madrasakaaran is competing with Vanangan at the Kollywood box office. The Arun Vijay starrer, directed by Vali Mohan Das, flopped in the home state. Vanangan has performed better in Tamil Nadu. The auspicious occasion of Pongal festival may help in increasing the number of Madrasakaran in their home state in future.
It will compete with the over a decade-delayed film Madha Gaja Raja, directed by actor Vishal, starting tomorrow (January 12, 2025). Other rival releases are Kadhalika Neramillai and Nesippaya. The Nithya Menen-starrer and Akash Murali’s acting debut are both scheduled to release on January 14, 2025.
The makers of Madrasakaran released its trailer on YouTube a few days ago. It has managed to garner good publicity ever since its announcement. The Tamil film also features a remix version of the popular song Kadhal Sadugudu from R. Madhavan’s 2000 film Alaipayuthey.
