Actress Madhuri Dixit has spoken about her family’s growing online presence and the impact of digital media on their lives, after returning to India after years in the United States. In a recent interview, Dixit highlighted her husband Shriram Nene’s success as a health influencer on YouTube and shared insights about her family’s willingness to participate in public conversations about health and life experiences. The discussion comes as Dixit is preparing for the release of her new crime thriller series. Mrs. DeshpandeDirected by Nagesh Kukunoor, which will debut on JioHotstar on December 19.

The actor highlighted her husband’s achievements in digital content creation, especially in the field of public health. Madhuri says in the latest edition of Creator Screen,

Dixit discussed the balance between maintaining privacy and sharing family experiences online. She explained that her husband’s familiar public presence allows audiences to feel connected as well as provide valuable information. She commented, “When that face is so familiar, you feel a kind of relatability and connect with the person talking. So, they listen to you. It’s fun,” Madhuri adds. She doesn’t feel that her husband is making too much public about his family in the process. She argues, “People want to hear your experiences and see your learning so they can learn from it. That’s what YouTube is all about.”

The actor described his family’s approach to digital storytelling, noting that his YouTube productions include intergenerational podcasts involving his children, Arin and Ryan, and his in-laws. The purpose of these sessions is to share the stories and lessons of the older generation with the youth. “We did a session with grandparents on their visits, and how our kids take inspiration and learn from them,” Dixit said, adding, “When the kids went to college, we did a podcast about what their experience was in the run up to midterms and how they were feeling. Before they went to college, we did a session on how they can be independent. We taught them the basics of cooking like eggs and pasta, so they can take care on that front.”

Dixit saw her son become confident when speaking in front of the camera, an environment unlike other social platforms. He expressed his admiration for their spontaneity and freedom while commenting on the generational shift in digital communication. “It’s a completely different medium, even than Instagram or Twitter. It’s amazing to see how confident kids are when they talk. They’re very confident about their choices in life and what they’re talking about. We learn a lot from them every day. They don’t have to be a star or anything. They can be their own people on YouTube. It’s amazing,” says Madhuri.

According to Dixit, the aim of these family-led digital activities is not to create celebrity status for their children, but to promote self-expression and practical life lessons. She noted that the ability to be authentic online is valued on platforms like YouTube, and she sees this as a positive development for her family.

Dixit will be seen next time Mrs. DeshpandeA crime thriller directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, which will premiere on JioHotstar on December 19. The series marks a new chapter in his career, running parallel to his family’s experiments with digital media.
