Madha Gaja Raja starring Vishal, Anjali, Varalakshmi Sarathkumar and Santhanam has maintained a good hold at the box office. The long-delayed film recorded unprecedented trends after a stellar festive weekend in Tamil Nadu.
Madha Gaj Raja’s earnings increase by Rs 2 crore; Reached close to Rs 45 crore
Opening with Rs 3.20 crore, Madha Gaja Raja recorded a solid weekend of Rs 13 crore. Additionally, it witnessed huge traction due to the festive mood among the audience and the Pongal holidays in Tamil Nadu. The action-comedy crossed the Rs 40 crore mark on its 8th day.
As per estimates, the film earned Rs 2 crore today, 2nd Monday (9th day), taking the total earning at Kollywood box office to Rs 44.35 crore. The film will touch the Rs 45 crore mark tomorrow and then race towards the Rs 50 crore mark in its home state.
The Vishal starrer film could potentially touch the Rs 60 crore mark by the end of its run in Tamil Nadu alone. It will be interesting to see whether there is a surge in vintage action-comedies during the Republic Day weekend. Based on its current trends, the Sundar C directed film is expected to attract the audience for a few more weeks, at least till the arrival of Ajith Kumar’s Vidamuyaarchi on February 6.
