Pastry chef Amaury Guichon is something of an icon on social media. He often takes over the internet with his life-size chocolate creations with hyperrealistic details. One of his creations that has gone viral recently is his chocolate flamingo floatie. In the reel, Amaury can be seen designing a giant pool floatie shaped like a pink bird – of course using only chocolate. Amaury first creates the main circular part of the floatie. He scrapes and carves several large pieces of chocolate to create its curved surface. Once he achieves a smooth finish, he sets it aside.

He also cleverly shapes the flamingo’s head, neck, tail and (later) wings out of chocolate. All of these elements are assembled and then spray-painted with edible pink paint. Amaury adds other colors near the head for details like the eyes and beak. He also adds elements like a handle and an air nozzle that distinguish it as a pool floatie. The reel has garnered over 33 million views so far. In the comments, many users were left mesmerised by Amaury’s skills. Many appreciated how he managed to nail the likeness so well that it gave a glossy finish. Read some of the comments from Instagram below:

“The real genius here is not getting a drop of chocolate on his white shirt.”

“The finish looks like plastic. Unbelievable.”

“I can’t even get one of those to puff up properly, let alone make one out of chocolate.”

“I’m just waiting for you to build me a chocolate castle like Willy Wonka.”

“Insane! The level of detail! It looks exactly like the real thing, just a little better.”

“The finished product is very real.”

“There are no words for it…it’s next level, is there anything you can’t do or make with chocolate? Just amazed.”

“I want to know who buys them. Where do they go?”

Earlier, a video of Amaury was doing the rounds on the internet in which he was seen making a giant pencil and sharpener. Click here to read the full story.
