Long live Dev Saheb: Shatrughan Sinha pays tribute to Dev Anand on his death anniversary

Shatrughan Sinha paid an emotional tribute to Dev Anand on his 13th death anniversary and recalled the life-changing advice the actor once gave him. Sharing old memories, Sinha said that Dev Anand taught him to embrace his natural attributes and turn “minus points” into strengths.

Thirteen years after Bollywood lost its iconic “evergreen hero” Dev Anand, actor Shatrughan Sinha has paid a heartfelt tribute to the legend on his death anniversary. Sharing old photos and memories on social media, Sinha honored the late star with a touching note, showing his appreciation and gratitude.

Posting old pictures, Shatrughan Sinha wrote, “Remembering Dev Sahab with a feeling of love, affection and gratitude. #DevAnand is one of the most stylish and evergreen heroes of all time. Your inspiration and advice are still very close to my heart. Long live Dev Sahab! #DeathAnniversary”

Sinha also reflected on the most life-changing advice Dev Anand once gave him. Following the actor’s death in 2011, Sinha revealed how the legendary star was instrumental in helping him embrace his natural appearance at a time when he was insecure about the cuts on his face.

talking to curly talesSinha recalled, “I had big dreams of becoming an actor, but I was also scared because I had scars on my face. And I had doubts about how I would become an actor. People would even ask me to get some treatment done on my face.”

The actor said that before taking guidance from Dev Anand, he had also consulted a plastic surgeon. “I even went to a plastic surgeon, and I was ready to get surgery to correct my face. But I adored Dev Anand so much and I went to him, and he told me not to get surgery. He told me, ‘When you become successful, these cuts on your face will become your signature style. People will love this face. Don’t ever get surgery.'”

Sinha said that Dev Anand led by example. He said, “He gave me his example and said that I have a hole in my tooth, but I have not filled it till date. People see it as my ada (unique way). The things which you see as minus points in yourself, will be your plus points in the future.”

Dev Anand (1923–2011) is one of the most famous icons of Indian cinema – an actor, producer, director and the original “Evergreen Hero” known for his charm, distinctive dialogue delivery and evergreen screen presence. From his debut in Hum Ek Hain (1946) to classics like Baji, CID, Guide, Jewel Thief, And Hare Ram Hare KrishnaHe shaped the golden age of Hindi cinema.

As the founder of Navketan Films, he produced many landmark films and mentored new talent. A recipient of the Padma Bhushan and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Dev Anand continued to work enthusiastically in films till the 80s and left behind a legacy that is unmatched.
