Tamil director Lokesh Kanagraj is making nationwide headlines with his upcoming direction venture ‘Coolie’, playing the role of Rajinikanth. The film, which was slated for release on August 14, is set to be an ambitious project with a spectacular budget of Rs 350 crore. Recent reports have highlighted the fee of the director, with Rs 50 crore. This recently addressed himself by Kanagarj in an interview.

With talking with Hollywood Reporter IndiaKanagaraj pointed to the success of his previous film, Thalapathi Vijay-Starrer ‘Leo’, which was more than Rs 600 crore worldwide. Discussing his remuneration, he said, “You can ask me about my Rs 50 crore remuneration, but it is aroused by the fact that my last film, ‘Leo’ did very well at the box office and collected within the range of Rs 600 crore.”

Earlier, when asked about his remuneration, Lokesh said, “Obviously, since I pay my taxes, I can say, fall under the sacrifice of two years – 36 and 37 -. Nothing comes under it. We do not come easily. We need to sacrifice.”

He further said, “I will not call it a sacrifice, I am very excited about the film and if it comes out as a success then I will take fame and money, which will help my family and friends. There is no complaint. I have just mentioned age because when you turn back and see, I have missed many incidents with my family and friends, and I have mentioned in that context.

One of the stars in ‘Coolie’, Nagarjuna Akineni recently shared details about his opposing role. “It was a fun experience because how different I have done so far. As the main opponent, I had many scenes with Rajinikanth sir … it’s against me,” he revealed, expressing his excitement on a unique role.

The fans are eagerly waiting for the release of the ‘Coolie’ trailer, which will be unveiled by Kanagarj on August 2. He mentioned, “I want to distribute a trailer and then the film. More than that, anything will be cheaper. I wanted to give everyone a trailer, and the date is 2 August.”

‘Coulie’ will face competition at the box office as it is released as another high-profile film, ‘War 2’ on the same day, starring Hrithik Roshan and Junior NTR. Both films are expected to attract important audiences, making the date of interest for the enthusiasts of cinema on 14 August.
