Coulie is one of the most anticipated large-banners release. Starring Rajinikanth in the edge, it is one of Lokesh Kanagaraja’s most ambitious direction undertakings. In an interview recently, the filmmaker clarified whether the project was part of his cinematic ventures and whether Kamal Haasan could pull the film.
Is Coulie LCU part of the Universe?
Recently talking with Bhardwaj Rangan, Lokesh Kanagaraja clarified that unlike Kamal Haasan’s Vikram, Cool was a standalone film and had no connection with the cinematic universe.
He explained, “This is another standalone film that has nothing to do with my universe.”
Did Lokesh Kanagarj want Kamal Haasan to be part of the Kuli?
Moving forward in the interview, Lokesh Kanagarj clarified that, nowhere while making a cool, did he want Kamal Haasan to be a part of the project.
The filmmaker expressed that if he wanted Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan come together for a cooperation, he would be ready to beg for him on his knees.
However, in this case, Lokesh said that cool cannot be done by Kamal Haasan, while Vikram cannot be done by Rajinikanth.
In his words, “It is clear for me that Rajni sir should not do Vikram and Kamal Sir should not be cooled. Because it was written for both. It was not that they were not the only ones who wanted to do anything other than these two. So it would not be appropriate.”
When Lokesh revealed that Rajinikanth was ready to do the coolie after listening to only half the script.
In a previous interview with the Hollywood reporter, Lokesh Kanagaraja recalled how Rajinikanth was ready to take only half the script from the director to take it on the porter.
He mentioned, “I had not expected to say yes to him. I only heard the first half and to ask on the interval block whether he would be interested. He immediately said that yes. I hadn’t even written the second half. When I returned with the whole script after a few months, he loved it.”
