Superstar Rajinikanth is currently shooting for his film Coolie directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. As the director recently sat down for an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Loki revealed that the film will likely be released in theaters in the summer of 2025.
In the same interview, the director also talked about his plans for the Lokesh Cinematic Universe and said that Karthi starrer Kaithi 2 will be his next film as a director, with production likely to begin in August 2025.
Talking more about his cinematic universe, the director revealed his plans to direct 3 more films and wrap it up. Lokesh revealed that he plans to make a standalone film with Suriya in the lead role and end the universe with Vikram 3. The director also revealed that had Thalapathy Vijay not retired, he would have made Leo 2 as well.
Interestingly, recently while talking to the media after the screening of a film, the director was asked whether he would make a sequel to Leo. The director had replied that if Vijay agreed to do it then he would definitely do it.
Moving forward, Lokesh Kanagaraj also revealed about collaborating with Aamir Khan for a film. The director revealed that there are possibilities but it is unclear whether it will happen due to his own commitments. Loki also said that if everything goes well then he will definitely work with the actor and also talked about being his fan. Additionally, the director did not confirm or deny whether Aamir would play a cameo role in Coolie or not.
Lokesh is currently busy with the work of his film Coolie starring Rajinikanth. The film marks the director’s first collaboration with the actor and is expected to be a high-octane action thriller.
Apart from Rajinikanth, stars like Nagarjuna Akkineni and Upendra Rao are also in important roles in the film. Additionally, the cast also includes Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj and Soubin Shahir, who will play key supporting roles in the film.
