Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj recently found himself at the center of an unexpected controversy when a press interaction took an uncomfortable turn. The director, known for answering pointed questions about cinema and box office performance, instead faced a personal question, which drew widespread criticism online.

The incident happened during a media interaction, where the Coolie director also asked questions about his upcoming project with Allu Arjun. At the end of the session, a reporter shifted focus from films to rumors circulating on social media about Lokesh’s alleged personal relationship with an actress. The journalist asked, “Lokesh, your love story with an actress is being discussed on social media. Are you going to become a family?”
Maintaining his composure, Lokesh calmly replied, “No, sir. I already have a family.” Despite the clarity of his answer, the reporter continued with the same phrase, “The second family.” At that time, Lokesh decided not to engage further and ended the press conference, a move that many felt was respectful and restrained.
Fan criticized reporter’s misbehavior
Clips of the conversation quickly surfaced on social media platforms, where fans and film lovers strongly criticized the reporter’s manner of asking questions. Many called it intrusive and disrespectful, especially considering that Lokesh has been married for over a decade. An ex user wrote, “Stupid question from reporter: We hear you are in love with an actress and are going to have another family soon. Is it true? #LokeshKnagraj: No. I already have a family. Don’t know why Loki took it casually. People with this kind of mentality should be slapped on the spot.” Another user shared the video with the caption, “Very poor behaviour.”
