If you are someone who works between multiple devices at your work desk, or if you have different devices at home and work, the Logitech Signature Slim MK955 mouse and keyboard combo can really make your life easier. A part of Logitech’s Signature Slim series, the combo includes the Signature Slim K950 Wireless Keyboard and Signature Plus M750 Wireless Mouse, priced at Rs 10,290 and Rs 13,995 respectively. While both are priced a little high when it comes to the functionality and convenience they can add to your work day, I would recommend them to those who are able to overlook the pricing. Let’s take a deeper look at my experience of using the Logitech Signature Slim MK955 mouse and keyboard combo for a month.

The set-up of my work desk is such that I am constantly switching between my Apple MacBook Pro M3 and Apple iPad Air 2024. And my favourite thing about the Signature Slim Combo is that I am able to seamlessly switch between both devices, while continuing to use the same keyboard and mouse. 10 points to Gryffindor for solving the eternal clutter of the work desk.

its look and feel

The combo I have is the charcoal variant. I have been using both the mouse and keyboard for a month now and there are no visible marks of heavy use on either. The colour variant I have also shows no stains or dirt. This might be an issue with the white variant which is also available in the Signature Slim combo.

In terms of design, both the keyboard and mouse are very functional and lightweight, yet they are sturdy. The mouse is ideal for quiet use, and you can’t hear the click sound at all. It also has a few mappable buttons on the side and top, and they are all quite quiet as well. Apart from that, the mouse is very comfortable to hold. Its shape is perfect so it will never tire your wrist or palm. Personally, my hands rested on the mouse very naturally.

Speaking of the keyboard, it’s not quiet at all. Every button tap is audible, but it’s not like the loud click of a mechanical keyboard, it’s a quiet tip-tap that will hardly bother you or anyone around you. I work in a newsroom and I asked my coworkers if the click-click sound of my keyboard bothers them, and while my coworkers claimed they didn’t even notice the sound until I pointed it out to them.

The Slim Keyboard K950 also features a pair of kickstands at the bottom, which is quite helpful in elevating your keyboard so that you don’t put too much pressure on your wrists. The kickstands are also quite sturdy and you won’t feel any wobbling or vibration even after typing for several hours. However, I would have preferred different degrees of tilt for the kickstands. I think this small change can really improve the user experience.

How was its use in real life?

The Signature Slim Combo keyboard and mouse are highly customizable and that is what I really liked about this device.

The keyboard can be connected to up to three devices simultaneously, and you can switch from one device to another by tapping on a button. There are three buttons on the right side of the keyboard, and to switch from your Setup 1 to Setup 2 or Setup 3, all you have to do is tap on the designated button.

The keyboard also has a number of function shortcuts, such as a dedicated key for screenshots, one to trigger the calculator. If you are using the keyboard with an Apple device, shortcuts like screenshots, a button for Spotlight search, a button to lock the device, a function key for emojis, Control Center view, all come in handy. And if you want, you can even lock the function keys.

The usability of the keyboard itself is great. Key travel is reasonable, the keys are low-profile, and the overall feel is quiet and smooth.

And the best part is the Logi Options+ app that lets users map shortcuts like volume control, play/pause and mute/unmute, or use Smart Actions to skip repetitive tasks by automating multiple actions with a single keystroke. The app also works with a mouse.

The Signature Plus M750 looks like your regular old mouse, but it’s so much more than that. Logitech has taken a regular mouse and added an AI button to it, making it surprisingly efficient. It has a dedicated button for the new AI Prompt Builder. It also has productivity-enhancing buttons on the left side. The left button activates dictation mode, allowing you to type by speaking into the computer’s microphone. The right button opens a window with ChatGPT.

After pressing the button and signing in, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it uses the full version of ChatGPT 3.5 or 4o depending on availability, and not a custom version made specifically for the mouse. But the only thing is that you have to spend some time getting used to these buttons, and you have to remind yourself to use them.

Moreover, the wireless mouse has a very quiet click. It reacts quickly to movements, and you don’t need a lot of space to use the mouse. Very small movements and glides will do the job for you.

Connects easily and seamlessly

Both the Signature Slim Keyboard and Mouse can be connected using a USB mouse dongle or AAA batteries. These batteries come in the box. Due to the MacBook Pro’s dongle life, I preferred using it with batteries and simply connected the device to my device via Bluetooth. Once you set up the Bluetooth connection, every time you toggle the power button on the mouse and keyboard, they connect instantly and seamlessly. I used the device for a little over a month and never had to refresh the batteries.

Should you buy the Signature Slim Combo?

I think if you want to add productivity to your day and remove clutter from your desk, the Signature Slim Combo is a great investment. You will have to pay a little more than Rs 20,000 for it, but I think at the end of the day, the added productivity and functionality provided by the keyboard and mouse will be worth the investment.
