‘Loca Chapter 1: Chandra’, the first female superhero film of India and Malayalam cinema, surpassed Rs 200 crore globally. Directed by Dominic Arun starring Kalyani Priyadarshan, Naslean and Sandy, now the fourth is the highest grossing Moollywood film. This is a great achievement for a film which was made on a minor budget of about 30 crores.

In just 13 days, ‘Loka’ has achieved unimaginable. With this, Kalyani Priyadarshan became the first woman lead to earn Rs 200 crore. In 2025, after Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s ‘L2: Emperan’, it became the second fastest film to hit a Rs 200 crore mark.

According to trade reports, ‘Loca’ earned more than Rs 64 crore in Kerala alone and about Rs 100 crore abroad. Along with simultaneous collections from other markets, the film achieved this milestone within two weeks. The correct mixture of folklore with superhero elements has supported the film in conquering all possible markets globally.

As a tracking website Sacnilk‘Loca’ collided with a net (gross minus tax) of Rs 93 crore at the domestic box office. After an unprecedented second weekend at the box office, the film is collecting more than Rs 5 crore on Monday and Tuesday respectively.

‘Loca Chapter 1: Chandra’ is a superhero adventure fantasy film, produced by Dalkar Salman under Wafer Films. The film consists of Kalyani Priyadarshan, Naslen and Sandy in the lead roles, which stars Arun Kurien, Chandu Salimkumar, Nishant Sagar, Vijayarghvan and Nithya Sri.

The film also has several cameos, including Mamooty. On the superstar’s birthday (7 September), Duller Salman confirmed that Mammooty played a mysterious character, who played the role of Mathon, whose face has not been revealed.
