Lily Singh to act in Hasan Minhaj’s upcoming age film ‘Best of the Best’
Canadian YouTuber and comedian Lily Singh will be directed by Hassan Minhaj and directed by Leena Khan in Netflix’s original ‘Best of the Best’. The story follows two childhood friends who join the Bollywood dance team of their college.
Canadian YouTuber replaced the comedian, Lily Singh joined the cast of Netflix’s upcoming film Best of the Best and added another feather to his hat. Writer and earlier late night hosts will join the upcoming film in the upcoming film against the backdrop of competitive Bollywood fusion dance.
The film directed by Leena Khan, known for her work on ‘Never Have I Ever’, follows two childhood friends who join their college Bollywood dance team. As they navigate the intensive competition for a national championship, the story highlights the livelihood of Bollywood fusion dance, the challenges of young adulthood and the lasting power of friendship.
Netflix origin DiversityHasan Minaz co-written the script with Prasant Venkataramanujam. The film also stars Netflix’s ‘Sex Education’ ‘Four More Shots Please’ and Chenil Kulular’s Ankur Rathi. Shreya Navil, Becky Alex, Genina Gavankar, Nihar Duvuri, Nico Greath, Sarah Chaudhary, Emreen Khurana, Tanishkar Joshi and Sasha Bhasin also play important roles in the film.
Minhaj has produced the film under his 186k Films banner, in which Jonathan Irich has produced for rideback. Ryan Halin is the executive producer of the film for Rideback and Ellen Schwartz.
Last year, Lily’s reel with actor Siddharth Malhotra went viral. He captioned it, “You were not allowed to go to the house parties, so now you make dancing reels with friends @Sidmalhotra @Lilly (SIC).”
Apart from ‘Best of the Best’, Lily is engaged in many other projects. He is a part-owner and chief promotional officer for Toronto Tempo, the first Canadian WNBA team.
Lily is also the lead actor, co-writer and producer of the upcoming comedy ‘Din’ It ‘, who had a world premiere at the 2024 SXSW Film Festival. It is scheduled for a dramatic release in the US on September 19, 2025.
