Netflix is coming up with another music competition series. The series, titled Building the Band, boasts a very talented panel of judges including Kelly Rowland, Liam Payne and Nicole Scherzinger. The series is set to begin filming in the summer. However, other details about the judges’ panel and more information have been kept under wraps.
More details about the contestants and challenges will be announced later. The aim of the music competition series is to discover the next great music group. The trick, however, is that none of the bandmates have met each other face-to-face before. In the series titled Building the Band, singers will have control of forming their own bands in individual ‘booths’ without seeing each other.
The singers will have to choose their bandmates based on compatibility, connection, chemistry and aptitude. Now, how the singers will behave and what will happen when they finally meet, as well as the looks, choreography and styles revealed, is what viewers can expect from Building the Band. The series features Nicole Scherzinger (The Pussycat Dolls) as mentor and judge, as well as Destiny’s Child’s Kelly Rowland and Liam Payne who was himself in a boy band called One Direction, on the judges panel.
One Direction was one of the most popular boy bands, and it comprised of Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson. Talking about Building the Band, the show will be hosted by AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys. The series will be produced by The Wall producer, Remarkable Entertainment which is part of Banijay UK. Kat Lawson, Alison Holloway, Katrina Morrison, Clara Elliot and Simon Crossley will serve as executive producers.
In a press meet reported by Deadline, Kat Lawson opened up about the show and gave a glimpse of what to expect from it. Lawson said, “Forming a band is a brave and adventurous task for everyone as we hand the power over to the singers themselves so they can create their own band based on chemistry first. With looks out of the equation, can they form a deeper connection with their bandmates? With a limited band, there are tough decisions and heart-stopping moments along the way, but ultimately the result is truly amazing, forming bands that, in my opinion, deserve the biggest stage possible!”
It will stream on Netflix. But, more will be revealed with time. Are you excited about this show? Let us know in the comments.
