Kourtney Kardashian’s brand Lamé has launched an “all-natural” weight loss supplement, with controversy not far behind.
Celebrity and wellness mogul Kourtney Kardashian and her brand Lamay have launched a new product called GLP-1 Daily. Information about the supplement was shared on Lamay’s official Instagram handle. The caption reads, “Introducing Lamay GLP-1 Daily. A breakthrough innovation in metabolic health, formulated to naturally increase your body’s GLP-1 production, reduce appetite and promote healthy weight loss.”
GLP-1 is a hormone produced in the gut after eating that is responsible for regulating glucose levels, controlling appetite and supporting a fast metabolism. When we eat, GLP-1 signals fullness, supports insulin production and slows digestion to maintain balanced glucose levels. However, as we age, our body’s natural GLP-1 production decreases, leading to a slower metabolism, difficulty controlling weight and increased cravings that can contribute to metabolic problems over time.

View on InstagramSince its announcement ahead of its launch later this month, the product has made headlines for the nature of its claims and comparisons made as a “natural” alternative to Ozempic, which has been discussed in influencer circles as an unofficial weight loss drug. According to Healthline, “Ozempic and other GLP-1 medications mimic the actions of the hormone GLP-1 by activating its receptor, leading to weight loss and lowering blood sugar”. According to their data, Lemme’s latest launch does not contain a synthetic GLP-1 hormone and is not a GLP-1 receptor agonist like Ozempic.
According to the caption, Lemme GLP-1 Daily is "an all-natural supplement with no known side effects, made with 3 clinically tested ingredients: Eriomin, Lemon Fruit Extract, Suppressa Saffron Extract, and Morosil and Red Orange Fruit Extract." According to Healthline, a study of 60 women with weight problems found that saffron extract reduced appetite.
According to information provided by the brand, Lemme GLP-1 Daily is “designed to increase the body’s GLP-1 levels, reduce appetite, promote insulin sensitivity, and support healthy weight management”. The product also calls itself a “game-changing scientific advancement”.
The social media comments on Kourtney Kardashian's new product showed the controversy would start before it even started. On Instagram, comments ranged from "shameless money grab" to "how is anyone believing this?", with one even asking "are there any publicly available results for people who try this product before it's released next week". No matter which Kardashian is in the spotlight, controversy is never far behind.
According to Lemay, the daily capsules will be made available to the public on the brand's website starting September 16, 2024. They will be available through a subscription service for $72 or roughly Rs 6,000 per month or a one-time purchase of $90 or roughly Rs 7,500.
