Lava Storm Play and Storm Light 5G launched: 120Hz display, 50MP camera and less than Rs 10,000
Lava has announced the launch of two new budget 5G smartphones in its Storm Series – Storm Play and Storm Lite.

Lava has announced the launch of two new budget 5G smartphones in its Storm Series – Storm Play and Storm Lite. For those who do not remember, the original storm 5G was launched back in December 2023. Since then, Lava has been a little late after updating the series with new additions. Both the latest storm equipment focuses on providing a solid smartphone user experience, offering 5G and other modern features in the sub-RS 10,000 price segment. The price of Lava Storm Play starts at Rs 9,999, while the price of the Storm Lite starts at Rs 7,999.
Lava Storm Play and Storm Light: Price and Availability
Lava Storm Play and Storm Light 5G sales start from June 19 and June 24 respectively. Both phones will be available to buy at a special launch price of Rs 9,999 and Rs 7,999 through Amazon, as mentioned above.
What will be the revised pricing after the special proposal is over, as well as the variant-wise pricing has not been announced yet.
Lava Storm Play and Storm Lite: Spac and Features
Lava Storm Play and Storm light bring a good mixture of light glasses that are quite rare in the budget section. Starting with the display, both phones come with a 6.75-inch HD+ screen and support up to 120Hz refresh rates. It is good to see that not only the Storm Play, but even the Storm Light, which starts at Rs 7,999, gets a 120Hz panel.
Both phones run on MediaTek demonset chipsets – Storm Play Demislance is operated by 7060, while Storm Light Demensity comes with 6400. These chipsets are capable of handling everyday tasks and providing 5G connectivity, which is still not comprehensive in this price band.
The phone ships a clean stock-like experience and no advertising or blotware, ship out of the box with Android 15-something that is likely to appreciate budget users.
In terms of memory, Storm Play comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, while Storm Light offers 4GB RAM, which is combined with 64GB or 128GB storage. There is also support for virtual Ram.
For photos and videos, both phones have a dual-rear camera setup feature, which includes a 50-megapixel IMX752 primary sensor, combined with a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. However, the Storm Play has an 8-megapixel front camera, while the Storm light has a 5-megapixel front camera.
Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance, an USB-type C port and 5000mAh battery. Storm Play 18W supports fast charging, while Storm Light offers 15W charging – again, appropriate for price.
