Lava Blaze X

A few months after launching its first curved display, the Lava Curve, the Indian brand has launched another one, but with a better price tag – the Lava Blaze X. The Lava Curve is priced at Rs 17,999, while the Blaze X is available for Rs 14,999. The smartphone has a curved display, great battery life and a fantastic camera. It’s true that the competition is tough in this price segment thanks to phones like the Nothing CMF Phone 1 and the Redmi 13 5G, but the performance of the Lava Blaze X is not that far off. You can read an in-depth review of the smartphone. And for a quick recap, here’s our review in 5 points.

Lava Blaze X Review in 5 Points

Design and performance: The Lava Blaze X has a slim and lightweight design. Out of the box, the smartphone weighs just 183 grams and is 8.45mm thick. The Lava Blaze X comes in two colour options: Starlight Purple and Titanium Grey. I got the latter variant for review. The rear panel has a smooth texture and metallic frame, which feels premium. But the only problem with the slim and smooth texture is that the device gets slippery. But Lava has bundled a clear case to fix this problem. It also has a large circular camera module at the back.

The display of the Lava Blaze X is its biggest feature, as it is the only smartphone with a curved display in this price segment. It has a stunning 6.67-inch curved-AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The curve improves the user experience, but there are chances of accidental touches at times. The auto brightness feature also struggles here. Apart from these, the display is quite responsive.

Display: It has the new MediaTek D6300 processor and runs on Android 14. Daily life activities like social media scrolling, making calls, and texting work fine on the device, but multitasking isn’t really its forte. To push the limits of the Lava Blaze X, we ran a few benchmark tests to get a quick overview of its performance. Read our in-depth Lava Blaze X review to get an accurate performance score. Another impressive factor is that it doesn’t have any bloatware apart from the pre-installed Google services.

Camera: The Lava Blaze X sports a 64-megapixel primary camera with a Sony sensor setup along with a 2-megapixel macro camera and a 16-megapixel front camera. Like most smartphones priced under Rs 15,000, the camera on the Blaze X also supports AI feature. However, you have to turn it on manually. I experimented with clicking pictures with AI on and off. I find the AI adds more texture to the images than the other modes. Here is our detailed review along with camera samples. Overall, the camera delivers good pictures, especially considering the price under Rs 15,000. Apart from losing focus sometimes, the Lava Blaze X does a good job while clicking pictures.

Battery: Lava Blaze X is known for its strong battery life. Lava Blaze X has a 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. With just 60 percent battery, the device can function normally for a full day. Interestingly, the charger supports Type-C to Type-C charging, which is a technology for fast charging.

Verdict: The Lava Blaze X is an entry-budget smartphone with a curved display – a first in this price segment. The smartphone is available in three variants: 4GB for Rs 13,999, 6GB for Rs 14,999 and 8GB RAM for Rs 15,999 with 128GB storage. With a great display, decent cameras and great battery life, I think the Lava Blaze X is worth considering and can be a daily driver for your basic smartphone routine.
