Screen writer Bipalab Goswami, a screenwriter of the film Missing Ladies by Kiran Rao’s critics, has strongly denied allegations of literary theft after social media users compared between the film and the 2019 Arabic comedy Burka city.

He insisted that the story of missing women is completely original. He wrote, “Story, dialogues, characters, and visual – all the stem from our story, characters and dialogues of research and honest reflection over the years are 100% original. Any allegations of literary theft are completely untrue (SIC).”

In a detailed statement, Goswami clarified that the screenplay for missing women was developed over several years, began in 2014. “I first registered the detailed synopsis of the film, which outlines the entire story on July 3, 2014 (SIC) with the Screen Writer Association with the Working Title to Brides,” he said.

He said that in this early Sinopsis, there were already the major scenes seen in the final film, “there is a scene that clearly describes the groom to bring the wrong bride home and feel shocked to feel his mistake due to the veil, as well as with the rest of his family. This is where the story (SIC) takes.”

In 2018, Goswami also recorded a feature-length script called two brides, who went to win the runner-up in the Cystan Storytellor competition that year. “Again, in this screenplay, I had a scene surprised by the photo of The Brid (SIC),” he said, referring to a moment under investigation due to being similar to a scene of Burka City.

Addressing the use of incorrect identity due to the veil, Goswami said, “William Shakespeare, Alexandre Dumas and Rabindranath Tagore (SIC) (SIC) (SIC) have a classical form as a result of the wrong identity to tell the story used by writers for centuries.
