The much awaited sequel L2 Empuraan of superstar Mohanlal, even 25 days after the release, approved its authority at the box office with concrete numbers. Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, this political-action thriller, which follows the heritage of 2019 blockbuster Lucifer, has made an impressive increase of Rs 120.50 crore across India.
The Kerala Market, which contributes Rs 86 crore to the total India collection of L2 Empuran, has helped the film achieve this achievement. However, this is not surprising to enjoy Lucifer’s franchise value and huge fan Aadhaar Mohanlal in his original state. But the fact that Karnataka has come in second place with Rs 12.75 crore and is even more unpredictable. The fashionable handling of Impuran was welcomed by the Kannada audience, known for enjoying stylish actionrs such as KGF.
Tamil Nadu comes in the third, for Rs 9.10 crore. L2 Empuraan held himself and attracted the audience despite Vikram’s competition from Veera Dhara Sorran, with a solid start and favorable review. Fourth place is North India which contributed a collection of Rs 8.90 crore. The film faced controversy over some flashback scenes, causing sensors amendments, but it still pulled a decent number from the Hindi speaking belt. But highly viable Telugu states contributed only Rs 3.75 crore, although competitive films like Robinhood, a Hast Comedy, which features Nithin and Cerelela, and Madscare, Hit film Mad’s sequel, is not bigger in terms of Madscare, L2 Emapuran’s scale.
The success of the film in various tinsel cities across India shows the power of a tall franchise and the PAN-Indian appeal of the Mohanlal-Prithviraj pair. L2 Empuraan has maximized its dramatic run despite the absence of any important pan-India release during this window. Ampuran is a will of how material-powered commercial films can break up obstacles and succeed across the country as it is included in the final stages of its box office tour.
