In January, I read the entire script and I called Anand sir and I said, ‘I don’t like that. I’m not liking that.’ And it was giving me anxiety. I was not liking this girl. There’s something very selfish about that.”
However, Kriti revealed that director Aanand L Rai had envisioned Mukti very differently from what appeared on paper. According to him, repeated discussions with the filmmaker helped him understand the layers he saw in the character. “Every time I would go back and talk to Anand sir about the same scenes, the same dialogues, he actually imagined it in a very different way. Like he had her vulnerability in his mind, his layers, empathy, everything, which was not there so much on paper. And I just felt like oh my God, this scene is something else in his mind, and something else on paper. So that was probably one of the few, I think the only character for which I didn’t prepare properly. But I didn’t prepare for it because I was like, ‘I don’t even know where to start.’
