Kishwer Merchant and Suyyash Rai respond to criticism of their son wearing a cap
TV couple Suyyash Rai, Kishwer Merchant and their son Nirvair are being trolled for teaching their son to say ‘salaam’. The couple defended their son by responding to trolls in the comments section.
TV actress Kishwar Merchant has shared a video of her son Nirvair participating in Muslim rituals. In the clip, her husband-actor Suyyash Rai is seen teaching his son Nirvair how to pray Muslim prayers. However, the video did not receive a good response on the internet and led to constant trolling.
Kishwar, who is Muslim by religion, married Suyash on December 16, 2016. In the video, Suyash was seen teaching his son to greet people by saying ‘Assalamualaikum’, which is a Muslim greeting. Nirvair was seen wearing a Muslim cap in the video.
Sharing the video, Kishwar wrote, “Humanity will definitely be his religion.”

Soon after the wedding, Instagram users shared their opinions on it. Reacting to the video, Kishwar wrote, “Everyone can see the cap, but not the Rudraksha rosary around his neck? (Everyone can see the cap, but the Rudraksha around the neck is not visible?)
After this, Suyash reacted to other comments and wrote, “It’s everyone’s own choice as to how they want to raise their children; we know how we want to raise our son. (Everyone has their own way of raising their kids; it’s their choice. We know how we want to raise our son).”
Speaking about the trolling in an interview with Moneycontrol, Kishwar said, “My only problem was that I found the video really cute, so I posted it. It shouldn’t have been taken otherwise; that he is a Hindu and is following Muslim rituals (that despite being a Hindu, he has to follow Muslim rituals)I think most people don’t know that I am also a Muslim and I am married to a Hindu. I am a human being; even though I am a Muslim, I go to church, I go to the gurudwara or I go to the temple. I do everything. I celebrate Diwali, Eid and Christmas. You name any festival and we celebrate it. And I think he has been seeing all this since he was little.”
Kishwar is known for her roles in shows like ‘Hip Hip Hurray’, ‘Ek Haseena Thi’, ‘Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyaar’, ‘Pyar Kii Yeh Ek Kahaani’ and ‘Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan’. The couple participated in ‘Bigg Boss 9’ together.
