As Khushi Kapoor celebrates her birthday on November 5, 2024, the daughter of famed actress Sridevi and producer Boney Kapoor recalls memories of her mother. Khushi often recalls her childhood and how ‘she used to re-enact Sridevi’s iconic funny scenes whenever she was away.’
Speaking to NDTV about how her childhood was influenced by Bollywood, Khushi revealed that her upbringing revolved around the film industry. “When my sister Janhvi and I were not on the sets, we used to do scenes at home and watch movies,” he recalled. One particular memory stands out to her: “I have a specific memory of wearing Om Shanti Om at home, and I would wave like Shahrukh Khan and others, my cousin would tie my dupatta on her bangles to replicate The whole thing.”
Khushi also mentioned the unique relationship between her mother Sridevi and her films. He explained, “Mom would not like watching her movies at home and would become shy and awkward.” This quirk inspired the sisters to enjoy his movies in his absence and create their own fun memories.
Recalling those playful moments, Khushi fondly recalls, “When she was not around we would watch them and re-enact the funny things she would do. I remember her imitations of Charlie Chaplin. Which we used to make at home.”
In an interview with Filmfare, Khushi Kapoor described her elder sister, Janhvi Kapoor, as her parental figure, underscoring Janhvi’s caring role in her life. She said that the Baawal actor guides her through various situations and reassures her that she is doing well.
Additionally, Khushi shared a humorous note about the benefits of having access to Janhvi’s wardrobe, highlighting the playful side of their relationship. The Dhadak actor, known for his protective nature towards Khushi, often displays their sisterly bond while celebrating the strength of their relationship on social media.
On the work front, Khushi made her Bollywood debut in Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies alongside Suhana Khan, Vedang Raina, Agastya Nanda and others.
Notably, for the premiere night of her first project, Khushi walked the red carpet in a dazzling gown, which was previously worn by her mother Sridevi.
