Kerala Story 2 director Kamakhya Narayan Singh recently reacted to the film being given a U/A certificate by the CBFC. In an exclusive conversation with India Today, Singh urged young sisters and daughters to watch the film in theaters with families.

Speaking exclusively to India Today, the director expressed his gratitude for the certification, saying that the approved cuts have paved the way for a wider audience to watch the film.
Emphasizing that the rating would allow young girls and families to see it in theaters, he encouraged parents and youth to come together and watch the film. He said, “We have got the cuts and got the certificate. It is a U/A certificate and I am thankful to the board for giving this rating so that young sisters and daughters can go to the cinema halls and watch the film. The youth and parents should go and watch the film.”
In view of the ongoing controversy surrounding the film, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan criticized the film, calling it “poisonous propaganda”. He claimed that the film could undermine Kerala’s tradition of religious harmony, which he described as fundamental to the state’s identity.

In its statement shared on Facebook, The Chief Minister asked, “Why are poisonous works created?” Public screenings were allowed “to spread division and hatred in society”, especially when films like Beef (Spanish film) have been banned from festivals simply because of the title.
The Kerala Story, the first film in the series, starred Adah Sharma, Sonia Balani, Yogita Bihani and Siddhi Idnani. Despite several controversies, Sudipto Sen won the National Film Award as Best Director for the film, while Prashantu Mahapatra won the honor for Best Cinematography.
