The first crorepati of this season of Kaun Banega Crorepati hosted by Amitabh Bachchan has arrived. In the latest episode of the show, 22-year-old contestant Chandra Prakash from Jammu and Kashmir won a prize of Rs 1 crore.

The makers of the show shared the celebration of Chander Prakash’s win with fans. During the episode, Amitabh Bachchan asked a challenging Rs 1 crore question related to geography: “Which country’s largest city is not its capital but a port whose Arabic name is ‘abode of peace’. Options: A) Somalia, B) Oman, C) Tanzania, D) Brunei.”

After using the ‘Double Dip’ lifeline, Chander answered Tanzania, which was the correct answer.

The promo of the episode showed contestant Chander mustering the courage and confidence to face the Rs 1 crore question. In the history of KBC 16, he became the first crorepati of the season. The veteran actor was overjoyed and could not hold back his emotions, he heartily hugged the young contestant and congratulated him on his remarkable win.

Apart from winning the prize money of Rs 1 crore, Chander also got a car.

Amitabh Bachchan then asked him the Rs 7 crore question. “Who was the first child born to English parents in North America in 1587?” Since Chander was not sure about the answer and had used up all his lifelines, he decided to quit the show. When Amitabh encouraged him to guess, he chose option A) Virginia Dare, which turned out to be the correct answer.

The 22-year-old contestant, who has undergone seven surgeries due to a medical condition that he had since birth, attributed his success on the quiz show to his strategy of eliminating irrelevant options while staying calm and focused, which eventually led him to victory.
