Kathie Lee Gifford told PEOPLE in an article published on Tuesday, July 30 that she suffered a pelvic injury from a fall while recovering from hip replacement surgery. The 70-year-old former Today host said moving 300 books alone during book signing events in Nashville weakened her body, causing her pelvic bone to break in two places.
Describing her current injury as more painful than hip replacement surgery, Gifford told the publication that she injured her pelvic bones while she was in a hurry to visit her friend. After the accident, Gifford had to be hospitalised for a week for physiotherapy.
Gifford called it a humbling experience
Acknowledging her age, Gifford detailed how a person thinks they know their body only because it changes as they get older. The television presenter was also disappointed about spending most of the summer indoors, but remained optimistic about heading back to her farm and enjoying all kinds of summer experiences soon. “God is telling me it’s time to slow down. I’ve been running my whole life. God is telling me, ‘You’ve planted a lot of roses. Try to smell them,'” she told People about her future plans.
Earlier this month, Gifford told the publication that she needed hip replacement surgery due to her active lifestyle over the past few years. However, despite the challenges, she told People at the time that she has no regrets about living life to the fullest.
