Trigger warning: This article contains mention of sexual abuse.
Kate Beckinsale recently opened up about the abuse she faced while shooting for several films. Her words come in the wake of a recent lawsuit filed by Blake Lively, whom the Underworld actress also praised in her clip.
The Van Helsing actress took to Instagram to recall the terrifying time she had to work with an unknown co-star who was constantly drunk.
Opening up about that period, Kate Beckinsale mentioned that she raised her voice on set, saying, “I find it very difficult – my co-star is drunk every day and he’s clearly doing something. And I have full sympathy for that, but I’m also, like the entire crew, waiting six hours a day for her to learn her lines. And that means I can watch my daughter at any time throughout the movie. I won’t be able to see.”
However, her calls were ignored and instead, she was referred to as “that fucker” on the walkie-talkie and even in person, as the Serendipity actress said.
Then she remembered the “strict diet-and-exercise program” that caused her to not menstruate twice.
After feeling unsafe during fight scenes in two different films, the actress claimed that she had to get an MRI to prove that she was actually injured.
However, it got even worse as Kate Beckinsale mentioned that she then had gas, which made her think she was the one with the problem, and she was even kicked out of a cast dinner, simply because she Talked about the issues.
Another disturbing incident that she recalled in her video was that a publicist, who was hired by the Jolt actress, forced her to do a photoshoot just a day after her miscarriage.
When she tried to get out of the situation by saying she was “having an abortion,” the publicist said, “You have to do it or you’ll be sued.”
While praising Blake Lively for standing up for herself, Beckinsale also noted, “Everyone in every industry deserves to be taken seriously and not be penalized when something serious happens to them at work. ”
Lively filed a lawsuit against her It Ends With Us co-star, Justin Bladoni, on December 20, 2024, accusing him of sexual harassment on set.
