Actor Kartik Aryan has approached the Bombay High Court to protect his personality rights from alleged unauthorized commercial use online. He has filed an intellectual property (IP) lawsuit against several Indian and international e-commerce and social media platforms along with unidentified “John Doe” individuals accused of misusing his identity.

The petition states that his name, image and likeness are being used on merchandise, advertisements and other digital content without permission, which is a violation of his publicity and privacy rights. Karthik has sought a permanent injunction barring the defendants from using his photographs, videos, voice or any other personal characteristics for commercial purposes, including AI tools and deepfakes.

The actor has also asked online platforms and authorities to remove such content and reveal the identity of the people behind it. The case will be heard on April 9, when senior lawyer Birendra Saraf is expected to seek immediate relief for Aryan.

Karthik will next be seen in director Mrigdeep Singh Lamba’s film. NagzillaIn which he is reportedly seen playing the role of Ichchhadhari Naag, a shape-shifting serpent. The film is co-produced by Karan Johar, Mahavir Jain, Adar Poonawala, Apoorva Mehta, Mrigdeep Singh Lamba and Sujeet Jain.

The actor is also set to appear with co-star Sreeleela in Anurag Basu’s next, which is expected to release later this year.
