Kartik Aryan, who plays Murlikant Petkar in Chandu Champion, felt proud and inspired when he saw the Paralympic athlete being honored with the Arjuna Award.

The actor shared his feelings through a long note on Instagram, where he wrote, “From living your incredible life on the big screen to seeing you receive the Arjuna Lifetime Achievement Award at Rashtrapati Bhavan today, it felt surreal. Every moment was the same.” Dream (sic).”

Kartik further added, “Now our film #ChanduChampion has got its perfect ending (it started with you fighting for the Arjuna Award) but knowing you, an unstoppable champion, it can’t be the climax… Inspiring Very proud to be present with you and the Honorable President of India at this moment in history. Salute to you and all the Arjuna Award winners.”

On receiving the prestigious honour, Murlikant Petkar said, “I am truly overwhelmed and very grateful to receive the prestigious Arjuna Award. This recognition is not just an individual achievement, but a testament to the collective effort and belief of many incredible individuals. He also expressed gratitude towards Kabir and Karthik. “I would also like to mention Kabir Khan’s efforts in directing my journey on the big screen in the most authentic manner. And also Kartik, whose portrayal of my story was spot on. This moment is as much his as it is hers ” I am really grateful to the entire team of Chandu Champion for making this film and inspiring many people in the country with my story,” said the gold medal-winning athlete.

Directed by Kabir Khan, Chandu Champion also stars Vijay Raaz, Rajpal Yadav, Shreyas Talpade and many others. This film was released on 14 June 2024.
