The Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR) on Wednesday took up a suo motu case based on media reports that a child was allegedly dressed in a prison inmate’s uniform, including handcuffs bearing the number ‘6106’.
For those who don’t know, the number belongs to Kannada film actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, who is on trial for the alleged murder of 33-year-old Renuka Swamy.
Recently, a couple did a photoshoot with their newborn baby in a white dress, in which the jail uniform number given to the child was also shown for darshan. The pictures went viral on social media and created concern among the people.
After this, KSCPCR registered a case and asked the state police to trace the parents. Commission member Shashidhar Kosambe said on Wednesday that the photoshoot of the girl in this manner is highly condemnable and hence cognizance has been taken on it.
He said those who organised the photoshoot will be identified and legal action will be taken against them. Kosambe said this is clearly a violation of the Juvenile Justice Act.
Darshan’s fans stand with the actor
A section of Darshan Thoogudeepa’s fans are not taking the news of murder charges on the actor well and are reacting in an unusual way. Many fans came out to react, posting and sharing videos and reels in support of Darshan.
After Darshan Thoogudeepa was allotted an undertrial number, some fans approached the RTO to get their vehicles registered with the same number. In many cases, vehicle users have put stickers with the number on their vehicles, and some fans have even got the number tattooed.
About Renuka Swamy case
Actor Darshan, his friend actress Pavithra Gowda and 15 others have been arrested on murder charges. They are accused in the murder case of Chitradurga resident Renuka Swamy.
Renuka Swamy was a pharmacist and a big supporter of Darshan. According to reports, Renuka Swamy had been sending abusive messages to Darshan’s friend Pavitra for a long time.
According to the report, in retaliation, actor Darshan allegedly kidnapped Renuka Swamy with the help of some others, brought her to Bengaluru, kept her in a shed and tortured and killed her. Darshan and the other accused are currently in judicial custody.
