Karan Johar ‘very inspired’ by ‘Stree 2’, celebrates its ‘tremendous’ success
Karan Johar called the success of ‘Stree 2’ a moment of great celebration for the Hindi film industry. Posting on social media, he praised the entire team of the film and said that they presented a story that is deeply rooted in our culture.
Filmmaker Karan Johar on Monday penned a long note, acknowledging and lauding the success of ‘Stree 2’. The horror-comedy was released on August 15 and is currently doing great business at the box office. Karan Johar highlighted that the film’s success is proof that a good “story and a deep connect with the audience will reap rich rewards at the ticket window”.
In the caption of his Instagram post, the director tagged Maddock Films, the film’s writer Niren Bhatt, director Amar Kaushik, Jio Studios and the entire cast, congratulating them for this stupendous success. He mentioned that the achievements of ‘Stree 2’ are historic, adding that he feels “deeply inspired” by the “belief, talent and strategy” of the team that backed the film.
A part of his long post on social media read, “The phenomenal mega blockbuster success of Stree 2 is not just a celebration for @maddockfilms but should be seen as a celebration of Hindi cinema and Indian mainstream cinema. Over the last few years, Hindi cinema has been under scrutiny for coping with the box office challenges. The post pandemic audience is evolving and at times difficult to gauge. But the mega success of Stree 2 has not only validated the power of a solid story and grounded content but also reaffirmed that conviction, boldness and focus on concept, storytelling and a deep-rooted connect with the audience will pay rich dividends at the ticket window!”

‘Stree 2’ became the biggest Bollywood hit of the year within five days of its release. The film has earned over Rs 200 crore at the box office in five days and it is not going to slow down anytime soon. It is also the highest grossing film of Shraddha and Rajkummar’s career.
The film tells the story of a city’s fight against a mythical ghost named ‘Sir Kata’, who attacks and kidnaps women. ‘Stree 2’ is a part of Maddock’s supernatural universe, which includes titles such as ‘Munjya’ and ‘Bhediya’. The film also features brilliant cameos from Akshay Kumar and Varun Dhawan, paving the way for the future of the supernatural universe.
