The official trailer for Ananya Pandey’s upcoming series ‘Call Me Bae’ released today on August 20. At the trailer launch event, filmmaker Karan Johar, who is producing the comedy drama, praised Ananya’s performance, saying that it is her best work till date and will define her career in the film industry.

Karan said, “Everyone watches rags to riches stories. However, ‘‘Call Me Bae’ is a story of riches to povertyIt’s full of humour and irony and finally, a tone of empowerment, which Ananya Panday has portrayed beautifully.”

He further added, “You have seen her in a lot of work, and she is getting better and better, but this is her best work till date and it will mark her identity in the entertainment world and everyone will see it.”

Talking about her series, Ananya said, “It’s a mix of ‘Schitt’s Creek’, ‘Clueless’, ‘Aisha’ and ‘Nancy Drew’ along with other fun shows that I don’t think we get to see much of right now. It’s a show I would love to watch. It’s very light, happy and fun. Even though Bay has a little bit of all these characters, she’s her own person. She’s all heart and I hope people love her as much as I did.”

In another context, Ananya also asked her viewers to not judge her character in the series. She said, “I think the best quality about Bey is that she doesn’t judge people. She never changes as a person and remains a good, kind person. Don’t judge a book by its cover and this applies to the show and real life as well – that’s a lesson we all need to learn from Bey.”

‘Call Me Bae’ is the story of Bela (Bae) Choudhary’s journey From an heiress to a conman. The series delivers a heartwarming and light-hearted story exploring the challenges faced by Bea as she attempts to live life on her own terms after being deprived of her wealth.

Ananya’s show is created by Ishita Moitra and directed by Collin D’Cunha. ‘Call Me Bae’ will stream on Prime Video from September 6.
