Hyderabad’s famous Karachi Bakery, which has been around since the 1950s, recently made headlines after Telangana’s Food Safety Commissioner raided one of its outlets in the Moazzam Jahi Market area and claimed to have found expired products. The food safety officials also visited the famous Bilal ice-cream parlour in the same location and found some irregularities in the items being sold there. They took to social media handle X (formerly Twitter) to spread the word.
According to the post on X, the Karachi bakery outlet had expired stock of rusks, biscuits, candies, chocolate cakes, toasts and buns worth “Rs 5,200”. The food safety commissioner informed that those food products were destroyed immediately. Not just that. The authority also complained about “no use-by date displayed on pastries and cakes, which violated FSSAI rules.” Apart from that, they also found several unlabeled products, which was against the FSSAI Act.

The authority has been updating all this on social media, stating that they are taking necessary action against restaurants that are found not following FSSAI rules for food safety.
