In an exclusive interview with IndiaToday.in, the actor revealed how his friends, family and the cast of ‘The Great Indian Kapil Sharma Show’ reacted to his performance.
He thanked Kapil Sharma for fixing the dates of his international tour, which made it possible for him to do Anubhav Sinha’s show.
Talking about how much the show’s team enjoyed it, Rajeev said, “It is all thanks to Kapil that I managed to do the show. The series team had asked for my dates in June last year, which they already had for our US tour. That is why I decided to refuse but when Kapil came to know about it, he encouraged me to take up ‘IC 814’. He told me ‘You do the series, we will push the show (You do the series, we will take the show forward)’. And that’s how our show got postponed till July. I had already promised them, so I would have rejected the show, but they kept me going, and I am grateful to them for that. That’s what true friends do, isn’t it?” he said with a big smile.

Talking about his other co-stars, the comedian said that there is a lot of love between them. “No matter what anyone does in life, I think we are each other’s biggest cheerleaders. We are very happy when one of us succeeds and we have been like that for years. Archana ji (Archana Puran Singh) was very happy, she said I deserved my dues for a long time. And when she watched the show, she also posted a long note about us. I remember Kapil also watched the show late at night after shooting and immediately messaged Anubhav sir. He called me first thing the next morning and he seemed very happy and proud. I think that makes me very happy,” the ‘IC 814’ actor said.

Rajiv Thakur said that his parents had seen him playing various roles in theatres, but seeing him playing different roles on screen was a special feeling for them.
He also spoke about his wife, whom he described as his biggest support. He said, “In every ups and downs, she stood by me like a wall. She keeps praying for me, keeps spreading rays of light.” Diyan For me, because he feels I deserve everything. Seeing my loved ones so happy fills my heart with emotions and pride. It has definitely been a long journey, but I have always believed in staying positive and optimistic. I think one should look at the smaller stages as well so that you can enjoy the bigger victories.”
The actor will soon return with the new season of ‘The Great Indian Kapil Sharma Show’, the shooting of which began last month.
A section of the audience felt that Rajeev Thakur did not get much space in the show as compared to other actors. Reacting to this, he said, “I think the problem is that this team consists of great talents, Everybody is a better genius than the other (Everyone is better than the other). And among the best people, I might be better and hence, I got less space. But it is a creative decision because everyone has a different role, and together a product is created. Also, last time we had around 40-45 minutes for an episode, this time we are planning to make longer episodes, so I hope no one will complain again.”
