Kapil Sharma opens up on triple shooting in his Canada cafe, calls Mumbai the safest
Kapil Sharma, reacting to the triple shooting at his Cap’s Cafe in Canada, described Mumbai as the safest place for him. The comedian shared how the incident reached the Parliament of Canada and prompted law-and-order action.

Actor and comedian Kapil Sharma on Wednesday reacted to the shooting incidents at his Caps Cafe in Canada. While talking to the media here Trailer launch of his film whom should i love 2The 44-year-old said he feels safe in India and praised the efforts of Mumbai Police. He also pointed to security limitations in Canada and revealed that three shooting incidents at his café were discussed in the Canadian Parliament.
He said, “This incident happened in Canada, in Vancouver. I think there were three rounds of firing there. I think as per the rules there, the police do not have enough power to control such situations. So when this matter happened with us, it went to the federal level. As we have a central government, this matter was discussed in the Parliament of Canada.”
Sharma said the incident forced authorities in Canada to take steps to ensure the safety of citizens. He said, “I believe that whatever God does, we often don’t understand the story behind it, but many people called me and said that a lot was already going on there. After the shooting at our cafe made news, the police and law-order authorities there are now taking steps to improve things.”
He said, “As far as I am concerned, I have never felt unsafe in Mumbai or in my country. There is no one like Mumbai Police.” Sharma concluded in his characteristic humor, “After every incident of gunfire, our café actually started getting even more customers. If God is with you, everything is fine. Har Har Mahadev.”
Caps Cafe, which opened in Surrey, British Columbia in July, was attacked just days after its launch when unknown assailants opened fire. This was followed by two more shootings – one on 7 August and the other on 16 October. There was no report of anyone being injured in any incident. The incident was also claimed by associates of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, with Kulveer Sidhu and Goldie Dhillon claiming responsibility in a social media post.
