Kannada actor Upendra explains how Rajinikanth, co-star of Kooli, inspired him
Kannada actor-director Upendra, while interacting with the media at a press meeting held in Hyderabad to promote his upcoming Kannada film ’45’, said, “Talking about how he considered himself blessed that he had the opportunity to work with him.”

Kannada star Upendra has opened his praise for Rajinikanth and his experience of working with Tamil superstar in ‘Cool’ directed by Lokesh Kanagaraja. While promoting his upcoming film ’45’ in Hyderabad with co-star Shiv Rajkumar and director Arjun Janya, the actor briefly talked about his participation in the much awaited action film.
Talking to the media, Upendra said that when he came to work with Rajinikanth, he did not hesitate for a moment. He said, “I did not ask for anything, Lokesh (Kanagarj) himself came and told the story. For me, it was enough to him (Rajinikanth),” he said.
Describing the impact of Rajinikanth on his life and career, Upendra said, “If I am a single, she is like a drinker for me. How much I see him. If he gives entertainment to everyone, he gave me inspiration. He is Rajni sir. I am really blessed to do so with him.”
The film starring ‘Vikram’ and ‘Leo’ fame, starring Lokesh Kanagaraj, has been creating waves since demolishing its explosive title teaser earlier this year. This is the first collaboration with Rajinikanth’s Lokesh and being picked as a high-octain action entertainer set against a vintage spice background.

Even when asked about Telugu superstar Nagarjuna and Bollywood icon Aamir Khan, being part of ‘Cooli’, Upendra briefly confirmed his appearance. “Yes, there are combination scenes with them,” he said, indicating in a multi-starrer spectacle in making.
The music for ‘Coolie’ has been composed by Anirudh Ravichender marking another high-profile cooperation. The film is produced by Sun Pictures and on August 14, 2025, Hrithik Roshan is about to confront the NTR starrer ‘War 2’.
