Actress Kangana Ranaut’s film ‘Emergency’ has been postponed once again. The actress has now expressed her disappointment over the delay in the film’s release and called it unfair. In a recent interview, Kangana mentioned that her film stayed true to the facts and yet it is being accused of targeting a particular community.

The actress was present on a podcast with Shubhankar Mishra when she said she was “disappointed with the country”. Kangana said in Hindi, “An emergency has been imposed on my film. This situation is very disappointing. I am very disappointed with my country, and whatever the situation is. (Now emergency has been imposed on my film. It is a very terrible situation. I am very disappointed with my country and the kind of things are happening here)

The actress, who recently became an MP from her hometown Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, said that the part of Indian history that she has shown in ‘Emergency’ has already been shown in films like ‘Indu Sarkar’ and ‘Sam Bahadur’. Kangana questioned why the censor certificate given to the film was revoked after the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) members had watched and approved the film.

The popular actress said that the committee cancelled the certificate after taking cognizance of various petitions filed against her and the film. Kangana shared that she is fearless while others get scared easily. She said, “We will keep telling those ridiculous stories. We will be scared of someone today, someone else tomorrow. People will keep scaring us because we get scared very easily. How long will we keep getting scared?”

“Resolved to release uncut version”

The actress, who directed the film, revealed that she is trying to find a way to release the “uncut version” of the film. Kangana said, “I have made this film with a lot of self-respect, which is why the CBFC cannot raise any controversy. They have withheld my certificate, but I am determined to release the uncut version of the film. I will fight in court and release the uncut version. I cannot suddenly show that Indira Gandhi died at her home. I cannot show it like this.”

‘Emergency’, produced by Manikarnika Films and Zee Studios, has faced criticism from various Sikh groups in the country as it allegedly portrays the community in a wrong way. Several Sikh organisations have written to the government demanding a complete ban on the film. Some Sikh leaders also questioned the absence of a representative of the community in the censor board committee.

The film also stars Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade and the late Satish Kaushik. The film was earlier scheduled to release on September 6.
