Kangana Ranaut: Got courage for emergency because today there is freedom of speech

Actress Kangana Ranaut is preparing for the release of her much-awaited film Emergency. Earlier, he revealed what challenges he and his team faced during the making of the film.

Actress-filmmaker Kangana Ranaut, who is awaiting the release of her much talked about film Emergency, spoke to ANI about the challenges she faced during its production. He also shared his hopes for the political drama and expressed his excitement for its theatrical release.

While talking to the news agency, Kangana Ranaut revealed that she had to face many struggles to get Emergency released. He also pointed out that previous attempts to make films on the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had faced similar challenges and failures.

Kangana said, “Had to struggle a lot. You must have seen that no one could ever make a film on Mrs. Gandhi (Indira Gandhi). There was a film called Kissa Kursi Ka. The director of that film had to commit suicide, and for him such a thing happened. The situation was created because we got the courage to do this film because today there is freedom of expression.

He further added, “We had to show this film to many communities and it had to go through a lot of scrutiny. We have great faith in our Constitution and the censor board and we are happy and eager to show this film.” I had no idea that I would have to go through all this while making my film ‘Emergency’.

After much anticipation, Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency has received censor clearance and is now scheduled for theatrical release on January 17, 2025.

The film, set during the 1970s when the Emergency was declared, promises to offer a gripping exploration of one of the most important and most debated chapters of Indian democracy.

Emergency features a powerful cast including Anupam Kher, Mahima Choudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair and the late Satish Kaushik.
