Republican candidate Donald Trump and his Democratic rival Kamala Harris are all set to participate in the much-awaited first presidential debate next week. Ahead of the face-off on September 10, Ms Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff spoke about their debate as a married couple in a new interview with ‘Pod Save America’. Mr Emhoff explained in the interview that the US Vice President and his husband were both accomplished lawyers before joining politics. So, when ‘Pod Save America’ When co-host Tommy Vietor asked the second gentleman about the upcoming presidential debate between Ms Harris and former US President Donald Trump, Mr Emhoff revealed that he has never won a debate against his wife.
“I think no one would have argued with him more than you,” Mr. Vietor said. “What should we expect? What should we look for?” he asked. Business Insider,
“I haven’t won a single one,” Mr. Emhoff said of debates with Ms. Harris. He then called Ms. Harris a “great debater” and a “first-rate trial lawyer.”
“Not that we’re in an argument, but I realize if we’re talking about something, any good lawyer will set little traps for you along the way, and when I was discussing a spouse, I said ‘Oh, that’s what you’re doing!’” He added, “I was also a very good trial lawyer.”
It is noteworthy that before entering politics, Ms. Harris has served as the District Attorney of San Francisco and the Attorney General of California. On the other hand, Mr. Emhoff was a partner at DLA Piper in Los Angeles specializing in intellectual property and entertainment and media law. The couple celebrated their 10th anniversary in August.
“Kamala Harris was absolutely the right person for me at a crucial time in my life. She’s absolutely the right president at this moment in this country’s history,” the 59-year-old said at the Democratic National Convention last month.

Kamala Harris will face Donald Trump in a debate hosted by ABC News on Tuesday, September 10. Both campaigns have been taking digs at each other while negotiating over the host network and debate rules, such as whether their microphones will remain unmuted.
In this regard, Mr. Emhoff said, “It’s Donald Trump, so who knows what you’re going to get, but I know she’s going to talk about us, she’s going to talk about the American people.”
ABC News is hosting the second presidential debate on Tuesday, September 10 at 9pm ET. This will be the first time Ms Harris and Mr Trump will debate each other. The debate will be held at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.
