US Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign – formerly known as President Joe Biden’s campaign – released a new logo on Monday, just hours after Biden announced he would withdraw from the presidential race and support her bid for 2024.
In an email praising Democratic officials and lawmakers who supported Ms. Harris, the campaign — which is still operating from its joebiden.com domain — unveiled a new logo that reads “Harris for President” in the font used in its original logo.
The website has also featured a new logo on its online merchandise store, as well as new merchandise featuring Ms Harris, reports CNN.
A campaign spokesperson confirmed that the new logo would be the campaign’s official logo going forward.
Meanwhile, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Monday posted a fundraising appeal for Ms Harris’ campaign, urging supporters to “be a part of this historic campaign today”. “I have known Kamala Harris for a long time,” Ms Clinton wrote on Instagram about the 59-year-old US vice president, who is now set to become the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee in the November 5 election.
“This talented prosecutor will build the case against convicted criminal Donald Trump and his Project 2025 agenda to strip us of our freedoms,” he wrote.
“But she can’t do it alone. Be a part of this historic campaign today,” the post said.
Ms Clinton spoke to Ms Harris on Sunday, part of more than 10 hours of work on the phone to drum up support from Democratic leaders after the 81-year-old Biden said he would not seek re-election.
Both Ms. Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, endorsed Ms. Harris in a joint statement on Sunday.
Vice President Kamala Harris has raised USD 49.6 million in grassroots donations for her campaign after President Joe Biden endorsed her, CNN reported, citing campaign spokesperson Lauren Hitt.
Also on Sunday, Democratic online fundraising platform ActBlue said: “This has been the biggest fundraising day of the 2024 cycle.”
