Actor Kamal Haasan’s upcoming film, ‘Thug Life’, which is slapped for a grand release on 5 June, has been banned in Karnataka. The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) on Friday announced an objection to the controversial remarks of the actor about Kannada language. At the audio launch of ‘Thug Life’, Kamal Haasan said that ‘Kannada was born from Tamil’, which widespread backlash.
As ANI The report, a representative of KFCC Sa Ra Govindu told the media that he has decided to ban the film. A member of the film Body expressed his solidarity with Karnataka Rakshan Vedic and other supporters-Canada organizations for his demands.
Karnataka Rakshan Vedic, along with his statement, filed a complaint against Kamal Haasan to harm Kannadigas’s feelings. After the complaint, the film Chamber gave the actor 24 hours to apologize and announced that the film would be banned if he failed to apologize.
Govindu told the media, “When there is pressure, I have to do it. Even Karnataka Raksha Vedic was present; whatever they say, we should do this. Even they will speak about it. Surely, the word ‘shed’ is not being specified by Kamal Haasan anywhere by Kamal Haasan. We will not release the film.
Kamal Haasan reacted to the controversy on Friday and said, “I have been threatened first. If I am wrong, I will apologize. If I am not, I will not. It’s not my lifestyle, please don’t tamper with it.”

Kamal Haasan’s’ Thug Life ‘is in the news after the actor said,’ Kannada is out of Tamil, who addresses the audio launch of the film in Chennai on 24 May.
Following his statement, his film’s banner was torn by supporters-Kanada workers. Protests took place near Inox Cinema Hall in Belagavi district of Karnataka. A complaint was lodged by Karnataka Rakshan Vedik stating that the comment had hurt the feelings of Kannadigas.
On Wednesday, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah criticized the actor, saying that the actor could not know about the ‘long’ history of the language.
Talking to the media in Thiruvananthapuram, Kamal Haasan reacted to the controversy, stating that he made a statement ‘Love of Love’.
“What I said was lovingly told and many historians have taught me the history of language. I did not mean anything. Politicians are not eligible to talk about language. They do not have the ability to talk about it, including me. Let us all discuss all of them very closely for historians, archaeologists and language experts,” he said.
‘Thug Life’ will be released in theaters on 5 June.
