Kamal Haasan remembers that justice is being done to get married twice as Lord Ram’s Brahmin devotee
During the promotion of Mani Ratnam’s film ‘Thug Life’, actors Kamal Haasan, Trisha Krishnan and Simbu shared their personal views on marriage. Kamal Haasan reflected his previous relationship and his stance on the wedding institution.

Veteran Tamil actor Kamal Haasan was recently judged for his weddings. The actor, who is actively promoting his upcoming film ‘Thug Life’, shared an anecdote, where he was asked why he married twice despite Lord Ram’s Brahmin followers.
During the event held in Chennai on Friday, Kamal Haasan recalled an incident a decade ago a decade ago, including Parliament member John Britis.
Speaking in Tamil, Kamal said, “This happened about 10-15 years ago. A close friend MP Britis, once asked me in front of a group of college students,” You come from a good Brahmin family – how did you marry twice? “
He replied, “I replied what to do with a ‘good family’ marriage. He said that since I pray to Lord Rama, I should live like him. I clarified that I do not pray to any God, nor do I follow Rama’s path – if I do anything, I probably follow his father Dasharatha, who had three wives.”
Actors Trisha Krishnan and Silambarson TR (popularly known as Simbu) were asked about their approach on marriage during the same promotional program. Trisha clearly shared her stance, saying, “I don’t believe in marriage. It is fine if it happens, even if it is not, even if not.”
Kamal Haasan married classical dancer Vani Ganpati in 1978, when she worked together in the 1975 film ‘Melnattu Marumagal’. In two parts in 1988. He then entered a relationship with actor Sarika, with her first daughter, Shruti Haasan, in 1986.
The couple got married in 1988 and welcomed their second daughter, Akshara in 1991. He filed for divorce in 2002, which was finalized in 2004. Kamal later dated actor Gautami from 2005 to 2016. Over the years, the actor has openly stated that he bites himself for marriage.
Kamal Haasan’s ‘Thug Life’ is ready to hit theaters on 5 June.
